Shades of Lavender

Where tradition
meets tomorrow.

Handwoven sarees and salwar suits, bought straight from the loom.

We started because good weaving was getting harder to find, and harder still to buy honestly.

The join is
the whole point.

In a true Kanjivaram the body and the border are woven separately and interlocked by hand, a technique called korvai. It takes longer and costs more, and it is why the border survives a decade of folding while a printed one does not.

We tell you which of our pieces are korvai and which are not. Both have a place. Pretending everything is the finest grade is how this trade lost its customers.

Six yards, no fastenings, no size. A garment that fits a body at twenty and the same body at fifty.
02 Design

Not reinventing
the saree.

What we change is the palette and the weight. Lighter silks for people who work in air conditioning. Colours that sit well under office light as well as under a wedding canopy.

Everything else, the drape and the proportions, was settled centuries ago by people who knew better than we do.

People

Weavers we know by name.

The families we work with have been at this for generations. Their children are deciding whether to continue, and what decides it is not nostalgia. It is whether the work pays.

That is the only reason we care about margins as much as we do. Every piece you buy is a small argument that the loom is still worth keeping.

Come and see
what we have.
